DONK'S BENEFIT - GREAT MUSICAL DAY!

The DONK's Benefit on Sunday, 05 June at the TRIANGLE 601 Prince George St, was a huge musical success due to the great bands and musicians who volunteered their time and talent without hesitation. There truly was something for everybody, and it was a great opportunity for some of Williamsburg's best musicians to meet in a worthy cause (Donk's) as well as foster the musical fellowship and camaraderie that we hope to make grow in greater Williamsburg.Thanx to all who came and shared the day with us, and a particular thanx to those of you who contributed generously.  We raised $1,233.28 - 100% of which will be used by Donk's to replace lost equipment.Special Thanx to Tim Duggan who schlepped equipment, setup, and ran sound for all the bands that played at the benefit. He's the best.  Also to Matt and Anna Black, their wait staff and cooks who volunteered their restaurant for the event, and have agreed to accept donations for the rest of the month for Donk's. They're great.  Thanx to great drummer and friend Marty Rogers for playing and volunteering his drum kit for all the bands to use, and sticking around all day to help the other drummers tailor the setup.Thanx to WMBG Radio  (740 AM) for an interview opportunity to advertise the benefit, which contributed in great part to the great turnout. This was a wonderful testament to the Williamsburg musical community - both their amazing talent and their empathy and community spirit.  Thanx again to all who helped make it a great day.  Best wishes to Uncle Jimmy, Lynda Smith and family, the Shades of Country Band from Donk's, and the community of music supporters in Matthews, Virginia.  Here's hoping we'll soon hear of the opening of the new Virginia's L'il Ole Opry.  And finally, please support local live music wherever and whenever you can.  When in doubt, go out!  Call some friends, go have dinner out & enjoy some of the 'burg's great talent - you'll thank yourself as much as we'll thank you!    Joe D.
