GREAT 4th OF JULY AT SAUDE CREEK VINYARD!

What a great time at Saude Creek Vinyard on 04 July.  I was touched by the great friend & musicians who came out to play with me - Mark Mason, MaryKate Galke, John Scarborough, Roger Furgurson and Jane Ferguson all helped make some great music and a great day.  Lots of friends and fans, old and new.  Finishing with God Bless America was the best.  Many, many thanx to all of you who played, and thanx to those who came out to listen. i am both grateful and fortunate.  And thanx as well to Goldie and Tim Duggan who never fail to support JDO music.

DONK'S BENEFIT - GREAT MUSICAL DAY!

The DONK's Benefit on Sunday, 05 June at the TRIANGLE 601 Prince George St, was a huge musical success due to the great bands and musicians who volunteered their time and talent without hesitation. There truly was something for everybody, and it was a great opportunity for some of Williamsburg's best musicians to meet in a worthy cause (Donk's) as well as foster the musical fellowship and camaraderie that we hope to make grow in greater Williamsburg.Thanx to all who came and shared the day with us, and a particular thanx to those of you who contributed generously.  We raised $1,233.28 - 100% of which will be used by Donk's to replace lost equipment.Special Thanx to Tim Duggan who schlepped equipment, setup, and ran sound for all the bands that played at the benefit. He's the best.  Also to Matt and Anna Black, their wait staff and cooks who volunteered their restaurant for the event, and have agreed to accept donations for the rest of the month for Donk's. They're great.  Thanx to great drummer and friend Marty Rogers for playing and volunteering his drum kit for all the bands to use, and sticking around all day to help the other drummers tailor the setup.Thanx to WMBG Radio  (740 AM) for an interview opportunity to advertise the benefit, which contributed in great part to the great turnout. This was a wonderful testament to the Williamsburg musical community - both their amazing talent and their empathy and community spirit.  Thanx again to all who helped make it a great day.  Best wishes to Uncle Jimmy, Lynda Smith and family, the Shades of Country Band from Donk's, and the community of music supporters in Matthews, Virginia.  Here's hoping we'll soon hear of the opening of the new Virginia's L'il Ole Opry.  And finally, please support local live music wherever and whenever you can.  When in doubt, go out!  Call some friends, go have dinner out & enjoy some of the 'burg's great talent - you'll thank yourself as much as we'll thank you!    Joe D.

Super JDO night at the TRIANGLE (16 Apr 16) - thanx to those many friends who came out, & hello to the new friends made.  A very special thanx to great old friend and smoking' hot guitarist BoY Wells who amazed with leads in so many styles from the eclectic JDO set list. A super guy and great player, he'll be back!   Kathy, Tracy & Jim - great musicians who make it so much fun. Thanx to Buddy and Peggy Parker & family from the Virgina Musical Museum who came out to see us.  If you haven't been to the Museum yet, you NEED TO GO - 6316 Richmond Road  (757-303-5907).  Some of the old "musical technology" will amaze, and Buddy has dozens of anecdotes and stories from the rich musical history of Virginia. www.virginiamusicalmuseum.com
Next - we hope to see everyone at Cogans in New Town on Wed. 27 April from 7-9.  MaryKate Galke will be with us, plus a sit in from Dobromeister and vocalist J.J.Justice!  Gret fun to be had - see you there, if not before!

THANX FOR PACKING THE HOUSE!

Many, many thanx to all our friends - old and new - who came out to the TRIANGLE on Saturday, 26 March 2016 to hear JDO.  Apologies to those who couldn't get in for lack of seating - next time, don't give up!  We'll find some chairs!  And many thanx to MaryKate Galke who always does a great job when she helps us. Kathy & Jim - both great as usual.

JDO is out next at 2nd Sundays Arts Street Fair in Colonial Williamsburg on 10 April, 2-5 pm.  Come make a day of it! Multiple bands, over 100 artists and artisans, food.  Come on out & say hello!

It's rumored there are vehicles in Williamsburg without a JDO sticker.  They may be like Nessie or Bigfoot, but they may really exist.  If this is you, get one at the next gig so you don't get in trouble - free, and Red,White & Blue!
